Slow Down to Go Fast

It used to drive me crazy when people would say, “Sometimes you need to slow down to go fast.” But these days, I often remind myself of this phrase and find myself giving that very same advice to my clients.

I’m going to share with you the same thing I say to the entrepreneurs we coach…

Hit the breaks.

Slow down so you can build up wealth in predictable stages.

Slow down so you and your spouse can enjoy a healthier, happier relationship.

Slow down so you can appreciate your children while they're still young.

Just hit the breaks.

Life will pass you by fast enough…

And if you're willing to focus, you can actually achieve more with less – less time, energy, money, and motion.

Personally, I slow down by avoiding electronics and limiting my time spent on social media.

For the first hour of my day, I won't turn anything on. No iPhone, iPad, laptop, or television – nothing.

Because once I start looking at a screen, I start reading and reacting to news and updates…

Then before I know it, I'm full-steam ahead in work mode.

So instead of scrolling through social media or emails, I'll exercise, hydrate, and sit in solitude as I mentally prepare for the day ahead.

Be Proactive

During my daily planning and solitude, I look for the biggest hits I can score with the least amount of effort – in other words, going slow to go fast.

I ask myself things like this: What meetings can I combine? What initiatives give our organization the greatest momentum in the shortest time (and with the least amount of effort)?

The answers to these questions help me be productive from the first moment of the workday.

But being in this frame of mind is not just valuable for planning. It turns my daily plan and solitude into the most productive time of my day, when I write most of my content, and feel the most inspired.

By starting the day slowly, I build momentum for the rest of the day.

Give it a try, and I'm willing to bet you will too.

And if you want more help with building momentum into your life, make sure you checkout our Momentum Masterclass. It's been a game-changer for so many entrepreneurs, and I know it would be for you too.
