Hunters Need To Move

by Alex Charfen

Episode Description

Are you getting the results you want right now? For an Evolutionary Hunter, the best way to clear a mental roadblock is often through movement. If you feel like you need a walk, like you need some fresh air and stimulation, don't talk yourself into staying at the desk because you feel like that's what's more productive.

As a momentum based being, you must get up and move. When we don't have movement in our life and don't stimulate ourselves physiologically we become stuck and can't achieve the results we want. As little as 20-30 minutes of walking every day can make a massive difference to your life. When we stop moving and strap ourselves to our desk we cause constraint to our bodies and our minds. Movement creates momentum

Alex Charfen: As evolutionary hunters, we can focus with intensity to get things done. We can put our heads down and accomplish and achieve and create momentum and put incredible work out into the world. However, when we focus too hard, when we stop moving, when we cause ourselves constraint, that intense focus can leave us standing in place and in constraint.

I'm Alex Charfen, and this is the Momentum Podcast made for empire builders, game changers. trailblazers, shot takers, record breakers, world makers and creators of all kinds. Those among us who can't turn it off and don't know why anyone would want to. We challenge complacency, destroy apathy, and we are obsessed with creating momentum. So, we can roll over bureaucracy and make our greatest contribution. Sure, we pay attention to their rules, but only so that we can bend them, break them, then rewrite them around our own will. We don't accept our destiny. We define it. We don't understand defeat because you only lose if you stop, and we don't know how. While the rest of the world strives for average and clings desperately to the status quo, we are the minority. The few who are willing to hallucinate. There could be a better future, and instead of just daydreaming of what could be, we enter the vulnerability and exposure it takes to make it real. We are the evolutionary hunters, clearly the most important people in the world because entrepreneurs are the only source of consistent positive human evolution and we always will be.

As evolutionary hunters, we can focus like crazy when we are on the hunt. When we have a clear outcome and we are moving towards it, we can shut the rest of the world out to achieve what we know we want to achieve, but that comes with consequences. See, many of us will get to the point where we blocked everyone out, everything out, up to and including even moving during the day. There's a reason why I coach all of my clients. The breathing, hydration, nutrition and movement are critical to our success as entrepreneurs, to our success as evolutionary hunters because we are physiologically sensitive, momentum base beings that are highly reactive to constraint. We are highly reactive to any type of constraint. Especially the constraint that comes from sitting down at our desk, starting in on a project, strapping on our desk chair like we're putting on a seatbelt and staying there all day.

In fact, what will often happen is, we will do this. We'll hit a stumbling block, a roadblock, we'll hit some type of a speed bump, and instead of getting up and moving like thousands of years of instincts tell us to, we will actually tell ourselves we should focus and sit there and stay and not move around and get whatever we're getting done. Well, the best way for us to get mental roadblocks cleared out of our mind, is often through movement. Through getting up and actually moving around like an evolutionary hunter would. When we don't move, when we don't get up, when we don't stimulate ourselves physiologically, that's when we often get the most stuck and the most frustrated and we don't get the results we want.

So, are you getting the results you want in your business right now? Are you getting the results you want in the project that you're working on right now? Are you getting the results you want right now, in general? If you're not, my question is, are you moving enough? Are you stimulating your body to stimulate your psychology, your intellect, your brain to be able to give you what you want and so that you can go into the future, create a new reality come back to the present and insist it becomes real. As little as 20 or 30 minutes of walking every day gives you the bilateral stimulation we need on our body, stimulates both sides of our body to do the following.

20 or 30 minutes can help you flush your lymphatic system. Increase your respiration and your circulation, bilateral stimulation too, release tension, releasing anxiety, increase focus, release back pain, neck pain, shoulder tension, muscle tension in general. Increase dopamine, increase all of the chemicals that help you feel momentum. Decrease your output of adrenaline, decrease your output of thyroid so that you actually get into a place where dopamine and serotonin are running your body and moving you forward.

For those of us who don't get up and move, for those of us who aren't doing this, we all know what happens. The less you move, you start to feel the physiological constraint of not actually moving. In my coaching, I work with people to build teams, to build businesses, to build organization, to do strategic planning, but we start with hydration and movement. We start with making sure every one of our clients is drinking enough water and every one of our clients is moving. We actually near mandate that everybody in our programs goes on a morning, 20 minute primal walk with minimal issues, outside, no electronics, walking for the bilateral stimulation to calm down our bodies, release our shoulders, release our backs, lower muscle tension, lower anxiety, lower overall pressure and noise. Here's the big reason, to stimulate creativity and problem solving.

We are evolutionary hunters. We solve problems on the move, on the fly, in motion, and when we stop moving, when we strap on our desks, we cause constraint to our bodies, we cause constraint to our intellect, we cause constraint everywhere because we aren't moving the way that thousands of years and evolutionary conditioning have told us to. In fact, here's how crazy it really is. Sometimes we will sit down at our desk, start on a project and we'll think to ourselves, "I really want to move right now. I want to be able to take a walk or loosen up or I feel like I need some stimulation," but we will talk ourselves into staying at the desk and "focusing" and not moving around because we feel like that is what's more productive.

As evolutionary hunters, as a momentum based being, as a physiologically sensitive human being, you must get up and move. People come to my office or my home, they laugh, they say, "It looks like a cross between a house, an office and a jungle gym." And I absolutely want it that way. When you're in my office, there's rock mats on the floor. There's different things you can stand on and step on. You go down into our basement where our conference room is, and in our conference room there's a trampoline and roller boards and balanced boards and foam rollers and all kinds of other stuff because when people come here to work, when we do a one day consulting session, I keep people moving throughout the day because I don't want anyone to get mentally or physiologically stuck.

So, as an evolutionary hunter, movement creates momentum. I actually have a podcast that I did before of that subject. I'm doing this one again because it's so important, not just all year around, but right now as we head into the winter months, when it's cold outside, when we're outside less, when we move around less, when there's less motivation to move, it actually can get worse and create all types of constraint. So, if you're looking to create more momentum, if you're looking to finish the projects that you're working on, if you're looking to increase your creativity, your problem solving ability and the way that you put things out in the world, movement creates momentum. There is a direct link between our physiology and our ability to think. A direct link between our physiology and our cognitive ability to actually solve problems and make things happen. When we have issues in our body, when we're not moving, when we're not hydrated, when we're not eating right, when we're not doing the things that we need to do in order to maintain physiological momentum, it will slow us down mentally.

So, right now during the fourth quarter of the year, when everyone else slows down, if you want to pull away ahead, remember, that in order to create the maximum momentum you possibly can, hunters need to move. When you're sitting at your desk this week and you feel stuck or you feel like you have a question or there's something that you want to resolve, I have a challenge for you. Get up, walk around, and see just how quickly the solution comes to you. We are evolutionary hunters, physiologically sensitive, momentum based beings that are highly reactive to constrain. Move and you will see everything change.

If you relate to being an evolutionary hunter, if you know that's how you are hardwired, go to freemomentumbook.com and get a copy of the Entrepreneurial Personality Type. We are paying for it right now, all you have to do is pay for shipping and handling and we will send you a copy of the Entrepreneurial Personality Type book. Thousands of people have read this book, the feedback we get is that often it explains someone to themselves better than anyone ever has. I also get feedback from people saying, "I now understand my son better, my father better, my brother better, my sister better, my spouse better. The book is meant to do three things, help you one, understand yourself better than anyone ever has. Two, stop limiting behaviors in their tracks, and three create unlimited momentum.
