I'm Alex Charfen, and this is the momentum podcast made for empire builders, game changers, trailblazers, shot takers, record breakers, world makers and creators of all kinds, those among us who can't turn it off and don't know why anyone would want to. We challenge complacency, destroy apathy, and we are obsessed with creating momentum so we can roll over bureaucracy and make our greatest contribution. Sure, we pay attention to their rules, but only so that we can bend them, break them, then rewrite them around our own will. We don't accept our destiny. We define it. We don't understand defeat because you only lose if you stop. And we don't know how. While the rest of the world strives for average and clings desperately to the status quo, we are the minority, the few who are willing to hallucinate. There could be a better future. And instead of just daydreaming of what could be, we endure the vulnerability and exposure it takes to make it real. We are the evolutionary hunters, clearly the most important people in the world, because entrepreneurs are the only source of consistent, positive human evolution and we always will be.

OK, this is the power of yes, this is this is my talk, and it's actually going to be a story, if you guys don't mind. And and I love feedback. So if you guys do that kind of stuff, want to see you, that's awesome. So the power of yes. Vote on. Let me get my. Thought it was made nineteen seventy three, a young mother was given her bath or given her baby boy a bath, he was 17 months old at the time and the phone rang. She was expecting the call, so she ran in to go grab the phone, turning the water off to the tub. And all the sudden she heard the most blood curdling scream that you could ever want to hear from your child. When she rushed back in, she walked in and found her child.

Burned with the skin actually melting off his body. She rushed her son to the emergency room as he clung to life. And what had happened was his sister came in to help his her mom and rinsed him off with hot water for the next couple of days. Her son did the unexpected, unexpected and fought tooth and nail for his life. Now, over the next few years, her son required numerous surgeries, never ending hours of physical therapy. And as our son grew older, trips to the Shriners Burn Institute started taking a toll on the family because by now there was two additional children. And at that point, she had to stop going to the hospital and start staying at home and letting others intervene and take her son to the hospital for her. After years of surgeries and countless trips to the hospital, her son was now 10 years old and left wondering why he sat alone in the hospital without his mother. And over the next couple of years, those thoughts begin to ring louder and louder until the unthinkable happened. He lied. He lied in his hospital bed. Unable to walk due to surgery, and he realized he had to go to the bathroom and rang for assistance. But see, no one came, he rang the bell and it was never answered. Unable to control himself, he laid in a puddle of urine for over an hour until a nurse finally showed up and scolded him because he was unable to hold it. That night, he laid in bed and he began to bed, God. You know, why don't you just let me die? And he heard something and God said, Well, that's because I'm not done with you yet. Now, fast forward 10 years. That boy is now a high school dropout, getting in trouble and doing everything you shouldn't be doing and told were told not to be doing. And then a little bit more life goes on board and that boy meets his wife, who convinced him that she believed in him and that he had a purpose and a calling in life and that he was going to succeed.

But in order to do this, he had to, you know, do the unexpected. The truth was. Everyone expected him to be a loser, never make anything out of himself, and that he had to fit the mold, a society that told him. Who he was. And not what his dreams told him he was and or could be. Well, listen, listen. That little boy. He found his passion. Something that he could do for the rest of his life. And it all started in a hotel room closet. The wire goes way beyond barbecue supplies. What we do at Kosmo's is we help friends and family connect, spend time together and gather around the table with one another. Now I push this business to a million dollars. I say push family, push, kick, pull, drag, beat the shit out of everybody doing it along the way. And it was hard. And then once again, the unexpected hit. I met Alex Charfen. And I found a mentor that told that little boy there was nothing wrong with him. He doesn't need to sit down and shut up and it's OK to say, you know, screw the rules. Make his own, don't apologize for your success. That little boy that not only learned it's OK to succeed, but it's actually the right thing to do. That little boy speaks to you today, not because of my accomplishments in business, but because of my accomplishments in my head. See, the battle is not won on the outside, but rather on the inside, and for that I say do the unexpected, make everyone eat the bull they fed you, including that little negative inside your head, because that's the one that will steal, kill and destroy all of your happiness if you let him. So how's it going today? Well, thank you for asking.

We strategically have a plan to win and currently we are serving over two hundred thousand customers a year and growing, helping them feed their family and friends. We eliminate bottlenecks, the guesswork and hold ourselves accountable to what we have committed to and. Ensure we are moving forward, we grow predictably and sustainably when there is clarity in a business, the team is protected and the trust and there's trust that the team will move the business forward. That team will create a game plan together. That will tell you where you're going and what your next steps are to get the results you need to be successful. Since meeting Alex, we've grown this business from one point nine million, two million to a run rate of 15 million dollars in only two years. And we're not stopping there. So what's next? Right now, we're currently getting calls from nationwide retailers, Wal-Mart, Harvey Academi, Ace Hardware, and we built the 20 million dollar team that is in front of you today. But I'm not going to let Brant set it 50 million alone. So I figured I'd run it down to. But. We will be able to continue to serve the customers and families that have entrusted us. With the most sacred places in their life, and that's around the dinner table, we will continue to build a team of world changing people to make our mission the purpose to the masses so that we can increase our impact and leave our dent on the universe because we are empire builders. So where does that leave us? When you commit to installing the Charfen kadence, everything will change and believe you me, I was probably one of the biggest naysayers out of anyone who's ever been in the system. When you do the unexpected, expect to separate yourself from the pack and be willing to embrace the success. Because the biggest fight you could ever win is the one in your own head. And that is the power of saying yes to your column.
